Every week, one registered member of our group is randomly selected to receive optional $1 gifts from the other members.

Two homes, one group
The group lives on Facebook. The proof lives here.
For the Girls of Iowa is a private Facebook group where Iowa women connect, cheer each other on, and gift $1 to one randomly selected member each week. Facebook is where the community happens: introductions, encouragement, and the weekly Live where the recipient is selected.
This website is for what Facebook can’t do well: showing exactly how every selection is made, keeping a permanent public record anyone can check, and gathering Iowa resources for when you need more help than a dollar. You’ll never need an account here, and you’ll never be asked for money here.

How it works
Three simple steps
Join the group
Answer the questions to be accepted, then fill out the registration form. That form is what enters you into the weekly selection.
One member is randomly selected
Every week, public randomness nobody controls picks one registered member. No stories, no applications, no deciding who needs it most.
Gift a dollar, if you can
Members who want to send $1. If the extra dollar is not there this week, that is completely fine, it changes nothing about your chances.
Every woman has the same chance, every week.
No stories
You are never asked why you need it.
No competition
Nobody is ranked, scored, or compared.
No strings
Gifting is optional and always separate from selection.
No scorekeeping
Posting and commenting change nothing.

Before each selection we seal the list of registered members and commit to a public random number that does not exist yet. When it publishes, the math picks one member.

No. Giving is always optional. Give when you can, skip when you can’t, no guilt and no tracking. Giving never affects your chances of being selected, and nobody keeps score.
